Alberta's Women of Country Music is combined with the Men's show as of 2007 See the page for the Alberta's Men and Women of Country Music for details.
Dianne started the AWOCM shows because she felt that the women of country music in the province of Alberta needed a venue which just featured them. It was like jumping into the frying pan and she's told it will only get hotter. She hopes this event surpasses all of her dreams and goals. One of those goals is to have it eventually as an event at a venue like the Winspear... a girl can always dream can't she?!!!
ALBERTA'S WOMEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC 2007
June Torok from Calgary will be receiving the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award. Hank Snow taught her the first three cords on her guitar and she has never looked back. She and her husband Lou have performed all over Alberta, Canada, USA and Europe. They had a three or four piece band that played in every hotel in Calgary in the early years as the "Country Cousins" They have played with many of the greats and even though she isn't singing any more she still accompanies on the guitar. Others on the show are young up and coming stars Candice Kichen from Rocky Mt House, Kayla Patrick from Edmonton. Carmen Lindsay will be back as she is a show favourite. So keep your eyes peeled for more info about this show in the January Newsletter.
